Chicago comedy spotlight for Thursday, September 30-Sunday, October 3, 2021

Chicago comedians in the news: Saturday Night Live announced its new cast members, including Chicagoan and Northwestern grad Sarah Sherman a/k/a Sarah Squirm whose time here always meant sold-out shows. Chicagoan Beck Bennett announced that he is leaving the show.

Josh Johnson was featured on NPR’s All Things Considered today. He is currently touring with Trevor Noah on the Back to Abnormal Tour which comes to the United Center on November 20.

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 2

Laugh Your Face Off at Park West, 7:00 p.m. AND ONLINE Pat and Amy Tomasulo’s annual benefit for the Facial Pain Research Foundation. Tickets are sold out in-person, but this year the event will also stream live with Pat Tomasulo, Chastity Washington, Calvin Evans, Kyle Ayers and Jim Flannigan.

Cameron Esposito at The Den Theatre, 8:00 p.m. Cameron Esposito returns to her hometown. She is a star of every medium: stage, TV, film and page.

Faded by T Murph at The Promontory, 7:00 p.m. This Chicago comedian is also known for his starring role on Hulu’s Woke.

An Evening with Paula Poundstone at The Athenaeum Theatre, 7:30 p.m. One of the fastest minds in comedy. Paula Poundstone is a regular panelist on NPR’s Wait Wait … Don’t Tell Me! She was inducted into Sirius Radio’s Comedy Hall of Fame and her career is featured at the National Comedy Museum.

SUNDAY, OCTOBER 3
